What you’ll learn
How to (re)connect with your creativity

Creativity is a very personal experience - you will discover how to better understand what inspires you and how to nurture your personal taste to inform your approach to drawing and the world.
A simple approach to sketching what you see

The blank page can be intimidating! We’ll practice a simple, yet powerful sketching framework that will make drawing sessions less stressful, more rewarding and that will lay a foundation you can expand on for years to come
Basics for drawing from imagination

Discover the simple fundamentals that serve as the “secret code” behind every drawing and learn reliable techniques for improving your ability to draw from imagination.
The confidence to explore your own ideas

Whether you are interested in travel sketching, comics, creative journaling, or build worlds for games & movies, this workshop will help you understand the visual language and give you the tools to communicate your ideas with just a pencil.
This is not a boring classroom lesson!
Expect a welcoming, non-judgmental atmosphere of active participation in a relaxed setting.
We will share space and enjoy activities designed to engage, challenge, and invite you to learn through trial and error

Hola, I’m Eddy Ortega!
I’m a Miami-raised artist, professional game developer, and arts educator.
I believe everyone possesses raw creativity and that one of life’s greatest pleasures is to engage that energy with intention.
Whether it is to have fun, document the world, share a message, or bring new ideas to life, I think sketching is often the first window into new worlds full of possibility.
My passion is to invite people to tap into those inner worlds and empower others to live richer lives through their own sense of creativity.
As an educator, it is my joy to approach each individual with compassion, respect, and an open curiosity toward their untapped creativity.
I can’t wait to sketch with you and share some of what I’ve learned along the way!

Absolutely! This workshop is designed specifically for beginners and people returning to art after years away.
Our goal is to start from 0 and help you discover (or re-discover) a personal approach to drawing, while giving you fun and practical techniques along the way! -
I love working with people of all ages!
However, this class is designed specifically to engage the needs of adult learners and provide a supportive environment for them.
If you are a youth or guardian of one who is interested in this offering, please don’t hesitate to reach out through our contact form - we may be able to discuss options! -
This workshop will run for 4 hours on each day of the weekend that you sign up for, for a total of 8 hours in a weekend
Each day will be structured as: Part A (2h) > Lunch Break (1h) > Part B(2h) -
It’s not recommended. To get the full value of this workshop we hope you will join us for both days, as the activities will build on each other as the class progresses.

Nope. Pencil and paper are all we need!
You’re welcome to bring your own sketchbook or favorite pencils/pens but I will have backup supplies if you are missing anything. -
